The Flinn Foundation Translational Seed Grants Program aligns with the goals of Arizona's Bioscience Roadmap, specifically, its second goal: "Research into Practice: Increase the ability of research-performing institutions to turn bench research results into improved disease/illness prevention, detection and treatment.”
The program will fund up to 10 Arizona-based research teams focused on advancing new products or services to improve patient care. The teams must be affiliated with one or more of Arizona’s academic research institutions and/or health-care systems. Projects should have goals related to improving disease/illness prevention, detection, and treatment - impacting patients here in Arizona and across the globe.
By the end of the 18-month grant period, supported teams would be expected to have significantly de-risked their product/process, refined their design and acquired key validation data taking account of updated stakeholder feedback. Critically, the teams should have also secured or have a well-defined plan to secure new sources of funding to carry their project forward and be well on their way to commercializing their product/process.
